Most people work and pay tax, and this pays for things that need to be paid for, like roads, hospitals and police etc.
I don’t live in the country I would need to pay tax to.
When I lived in the country, the police searched me in the street racially profiling me, which made me avoid central areas, thus restricting my movement (within a country I would be supposed to be paying tax for (if I earned enough (I do not))).
I was forced into a school for eleven years, compulsory attendance (which actually makes in a prison), where I was repeatedly told I was unintelligent, scored low in academia and then my parents were pressured to pay for afterschool tutoring from the very people who were demotivating me.
I have a lifelong, debilitating health condition and have never received medical care. When I was physically abused, state doctors protected my abusers. When I went to the dentist, healthy teeth were drilled and repaired, I know because the ones I told needed work and ignored are now fine 40 years later.
All the education and training I was forced into was bias against me. Although I can’t prove it, I am absolutely certain that the people paid to school, train and educate me, consciously and unconsciously, cheated to let preferred social groups have every (undeserved) advantage.
When I was unemployed and homeless as a teenager, the state essentially made me work as a slave, full time ‘welfare’ wages didn’t even cover rent, and I was treated like a criminal/dancing monkey.
Thus, the state I am forced to belong to not only has never given me anything, but has actively held me back from the person I could have been, ruined my self-esteem, denied me medical care, taken my freedom with no justification. I have no practical way to belong to another state at this time, therefore I need to economically drop out and not pay tax.
The state that claims me has given me nothing
The state that claims me took my freedom without justification
The state the claims me has damaged my health
The state that claims me favours other social groups to which I am denied membership
I will stay outside of the state for the rest of my life
I will pay no tax to the state
I would recommend all disenfranchised people to make an assessment like this and leave if you end up at a similar conclusion. Personally, as an old man now, I made this decision early and have lived most of my life abroad, and never paid income tax to my native state. Now that sounds a lot like sour grapes, but as I look forward to old age in the tropics, in a country I actually love, there’s a deep sense of satisfaction. That I left a place that didn’t want me, and have lived a life on my own terms, where I am happy, sharing my gifts where I am appreciated. I have never contributed to a system that only hurt me. I couldn’t have lived with myself if I’d stayed and battled through life all these years. Please, make sure you are living in a way that gives you satiation and peace of mind by the time you get to my age.
